Whenever it happens, we use 5 volts or 12 volt regulator ic too much lode, then it can be very hot or It can be burnt.
All of these Regulator ic's outputs current are up to 1.5Amp.
It's really a great problem for a lot of lode.
mosfet , transistor can handle all those problem.
And you can get the volts as your wish.
It's really straightforward.
Mosfet is the most sweetable for this type of regulator.
But you can use any type of transistor.
I used a mosfet here.
mosfet's pins are called get source and drain.
Positive volt entered in this mosfet's drain pin.
mosfet’s source pin will come out of the volt.
I connected with the led strip’s positive terminal to the mosfet's source pin.
I also connected with the led strip’s negative terminal to the 10k variable resistor 1pin.
I added a 1k resistor mosfet’s drain pin to another pin of 10k variable resistor.
And connect with a wire to the mosfet get pin to variable resistor 3rd pin.
And I've added it to the source of the 12 volt power
And I slowly rolled up the variable resistor.
And you can see the lights coming bright.
This means that the voltage is diarising and increasing .
I saw with my miter to look better.
And you can see the volts.
For example I need now 3.7 volts.
I turned the regulator like that.
And I measured it on two side of variable resistor’s with my meter.
And I saw ,10k one side and another side of 4.7k.
And I've dropped all the components.
And linked together 10k and 4.7k.
And I'm connected to Mosfet.
When everything is finely finished it will look exactly like this.
I added the 12volt power source to it.
And you can see the other pins being 3.7 volt.
And you can use it in a lot of lode.

Diagram
Could you include the diagram using a MOSFET as well ? By the way, does the MOSFET need to be a logic level one or any MOSFET will do, as long as it is the proper type, naturally.
